Supreme Court weighs in favour of conditional relaxation on next-gen joined green crackers ahead of festive season
India's Supreme Court is reviewing a petition to allow conditional use of next‑generation joined green firecrackers ahead of the upcoming festive period. The government cited a CSIR‑NEERI study indicating these crackers differ from traditional types in shell size, composition, burst duration and frequency, resulting in reduced noise levels, particulate emissions, environmental impact and solid waste generation.
