From Kannur to Ny-Alesund, researcher tracks pollutants into the Arctic
Researcher Manoj Panayamthatta Rayaroth from GITAM, originating in Kannur, joined the Indian Arctic Expedition 2026‑27 in Svalbard. He gathered samples of fjord and glacier meltwater near Ny‑Ålesund to examine how organic pollutants change within ice and subsequently enter the Arctic Ocean. The study aims to map pollutant pathways from source to sea and assess their environmental impact, contributing to broader climate research.
