Madras High Court imposes ₹1 lakh cost on lawyer who sought to recover bypoll expenses from resigned MLAs
The Madras High Court ordered a lawyer to pay a cost of one lakh rupees after he attempted to claim reimbursement of by‑poll election expenses from legislators who had resigned. The bench, led by Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice G. Arul Murugan, said the suit was filed for publicity, noting a similar claim had been dismissed on its merits just a week earlier.
