Criminal cases will be filed against encroachers of gram panchayat lakes: Karnataka Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Eshwar Khandre
Karnataka Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Eshwar Khandre said the state will file criminal charges against those encroaching gram panchayat lakes. Out of 32,504 lakes under local panchayats, 11,498 have been encroached. The move aims to protect water bodies and enforce environmental laws, following a review that found encroachments on nearly a third of the lakes.
