Kerala’s government has suspended plans to reinstate a deputy superintendent of police who faces allegations of sexually assaulting a detainee. Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala ordered the withdrawal after members of the Congress party in Kozhikode voiced strong opposition upon learning of the proposed comeback. The department had initially cleared the officer. The move follows internal dissent within the party.
