E.V. Velu, others booked for illegal excavation of lake bed to level venue for party event
Former Tamil Nadu minister E.V. Velu and several associates have been charged with illegal sand extraction from a lake to flatten a site for a party function. Authorities say roughly 45.7 lakh cubic feet of sand were removed from about eight acres, causing an estimated loss of ₹8.22 crore to the state treasury. The case was reported by The Hindu.
