Video CDs Break Windows Explorer
Researchers reported that certain video CD discs can cause Windows Explorer to crash. The issue stems from malformed metadata on the disc, which triggers a buffer overflow in the file‑handling routine. Affected systems include Windows 10 and 11, and the problem appears when the disc is opened in Explorer. Microsoft has acknowledged the bug and is preparing a fix.
