Supreme Court orders action against Mau SPs from 2023 over ‘casual approach’ in criminal case trial
India’s Supreme Court has directed disciplinary action against senior police officers in Mau for a lax handling of a kidnapping trial. The court noted that out of 54 prosecution witnesses, only two had been examined since the 2017 charges were framed. It described the prosecution’s effort as ‘absolutely slack’, ordered corrective measures and mandated a review of the case progress.
