Press Club condemns detention of journalists covering protests against CEC Gyanesh Kumar
India’s Press Council of India (PCI) denounced the arrest of reporters covering protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The PCI also criticized a Bengal police FIR filed against Maktoob Media, which had reported claims that Muslim IAS and IPS officers were barred from meetings during Amit Shah’s state visits. The council called the actions an intimidation of the press.
