Election Commission announces new SIR-related rules; objections period extended in Delhi, Maharashtra
India’s Election Commission has issued updated guidelines for the Supplementary Electoral Roll (SIR). The objection window has been lengthened for Delhi and Maharashtra. Under the new rules, voters will submit Form 6 declarations only when applying for SIR, while the existing format stays for registrations. Booth‑level officers will now visit households to collect documents from those flagged for discrepancies or unmapped entries, replacing prior hearing notices.
