Supreme Court orders sealing of over 16,000 properties, demolition of illegal structures in Meerut
India's Supreme Court directed the sealing of more than 16,000 properties and the demolition of unlawful structures in Meerut. The order also created a judicial commission, chaired by former Supreme Court Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia, to investigate land conditions in Uldepur on Meerut's outskirts where the illegal residential colonies have arisen. The bench comprised Justices J.B. Pardiwala and K.V. Viswanathan.
