Uttar Pradesh is prioritising the adoption of high‑yield, disease‑resistant sugarcane varieties, alongside scientifically based farming methods and increased mechanisation. Officials note that shrinking land availability means future production will rely more on boosting yields per hectare rather than expanding cultivated area. The department will supply certified seed and training, targeting a rise of a few tonnes per hectare soon.
