Researchers document first human deaths by Caspian cobra in India
Researchers have recorded the first confirmed fatalities caused by the Central Asian cobra, Naja oxiana, in India. A case report published in Epidemiology International details two deaths and two survivors after bites in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district. The findings highlight the species’ presence in the region and underscore the need for improved medical response to such envenomations.
