Drought relief: Karnataka announces one-time aid of ₹2,500 to about 50 lakh farmers, moratorium of 12 months for loan repayment
Karnataka's government has unveiled a drought‑relief package that includes a one‑time cash grant of ₹2,500 for roughly five million farmers affected by water scarcity. The scheme also provides a twelve‑month pause on loan repayments for those farmers, aiming to ease financial pressure during the ongoing drought conditions. The scheme, cleared by the cabinet, will be paid via banks to eligible borrowers.
