Farmers’ union to mobilise one million ‘swayamsevaks’ to fight trade deals
India’s farmer organization, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha, announced plans to rally one million volunteers, termed ‘swayamsevaks’, to protest existing and proposed free‑trade agreements. Party leaders said their delegations have already met more than 100 national and state officials, presenting a charter that calls for the cancellation of all FTAs. The move aims to pressure the government ahead of upcoming negotiations.
