BJP spent more in Bengal than Congress did across five state polls: EC filings
Election Commission filings show the BJP’s spending on five state elections totalled about ₹529.38 crore, with more than half allocated to West Bengal. In Bengal the party spent ₹217.16 crore on general campaigning and ₹69.83 crore on candidate expenses, outpacing Congress’s total outlay across the same contests, which included Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Overall, the BJP’s Bengal expenditure exceeded Congress’s combined spend in all five states.
