Microplastics detected in soil near Periyar riverbank in Edayar industrial area in Keralam
Researchers from Mahatma Gandhi University's School of Environmental Studies analyzed soil from the Edayar industrial zone along the Periyar riverbank in Kerala. Their tests revealed concentrations of up to 2,520 microplastic particles per kilogram of soil. The findings highlight the presence of plastic pollution in the region's agricultural and industrial soils, prompting calls for further monitoring.
