Congress questions ECI’s silence after attack on leaders’ convoy during Assam bypoll campaign
Congress has demanded an explanation from the Election Commission of India after a convoy of its leaders was assaulted during an Assam by‑poll campaign. Protesters threw stones, acid, iron rods and hockey sticks at the vehicles, injuring a party secretary who was taken to hospital. The party described the incident as a pre‑meditated, murderous attack intended to intimidate voters and its workers.
