Data Protection Commission fines Google €403M over processing of location data
Ireland’s Data Protection Commission has imposed a €403 million penalty on Google, citing violations related to the company’s handling of users’ location information. The regulator says Google failed to obtain proper consent and inadequately protected the data, breaching EU privacy rules. Google may appeal the fine, which represents one of the largest GDPR enforcement actions to date.
