Tourist rush threatens Malampuzha water source, warns PROUD
The Kerala-based group PROUD has warned that growing numbers of tourists are endangering the Malampuzha reservoir, a key drinking‑water source. Visitors are reportedly entering the protected catchment carrying food and alcohol, then discarding plastic, food scraps and broken bottles. The organization says this litter and disturbance could compromise water quality and the ecosystem for local communities.
