CJI says will ‘try’ to list Mamata’s plea against TMC symbol freeze this week
India’s Chief Justice said the Supreme Court will attempt to schedule hearing of a petition filed by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee challenging the Election Commission’s decision to freeze the Trinamool Congress’s party symbol. The plea was lodged shortly after the commission on September 17 assigned new names and symbols to the two factions led by Banerjee and Ritabrata Banerjee.
