Belagavi man who humbled Prada with Kolhapuri chappal passes away
Belagavi resident G.N. Gopikrishna, known for challenging Prada over its unapproved use of the traditional Kolhapuri chappal design, has died. Earlier, he facilitated a dialogue among Karnataka officials, the brand, and local artisans to address the dispute. His intervention was credited with bringing attention to intellectual‑property rights for Indian artisans and prompting negotiations on compensation and design credit.
