Antimicrobial resistance tightens grip on Keralam, say latest report
New data released for 2025 by the Kerala Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance Network indicate that antimicrobial resistance is increasingly pervasive across the state. The report highlights high levels of resistance among intensive‑care unit pathogens and notes that community‑acquired bacteria such as Shigella are now resistant to standard antibiotics. Consequently, drug‑resistant infections have become routine in Kerala’s hospitals.
