Clamour grows in Keralam to augment coaches, introduce more MEMU trains
Passenger groups in Kerala are urging the railways to add extra coaches and launch additional MEMU services to relieve chronic overcrowding on short‑haul and inter‑city express trains. Officials attribute rising train patronage to the ongoing widening of National Highway 66 and recent increases in bus fares and fuel prices, which have pushed more commuters onto rail.
