CAQM in talks with Punjab, Haryana to improve stubble burning estimation protocol
India’s Central Agricultural Quality Management (CAQM) is discussing with the Punjab and Haryana governments ways to refine how stubble‑burning is measured. Officials say satellite‑derived fire counts often miss the true scale of farm fires. CAQM is also consulting the Space Research Organisation to develop improved ground‑verification methods for more reliable estimates. CAQM chief Rajesh Varma emphasized the need for ground truthing to support decisions.
