Despite zoonotic disease threat, Keralam’s proposed veterinary public health wing yet to take shape
Kerala has yet to establish a veterinary public health division that was recommended by the Gita N. Potty panel and approved by the Oommen Chandy cabinet in 2016. Officials say the unit would coordinate animal disease surveillance and address zoonotic risks, but bureaucratic delays have stalled its creation despite growing concerns over diseases that can spread from animals to humans.
