Union Cabinet approves new railway lines at a cost of ₹9,889 crore in Andhra Pradesh
The Union Cabinet gave the green light to a ₹9,889 crore railway project in Andhra Pradesh, adding a 198‑kilometre third and fourth track between Rajahmundry and Visakhapatnam. The expansion aims to link major ports, enhance access to tourist areas and is projected to generate an extra 29.04 million tonnes of freight annually. The addition should improve regional connectivity, spur economic activity and cut passenger travel time.
