Ladakh achieves feat of channelising 60 lakh litres of glacier meltwater
Through the Him Sarovar scheme, Ladakh has routed roughly six million litres of glacier meltwater into four ponds at Spituk Farka near Leh, filling them in five months—a regional first, Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena said. Officials note the stored water will aid agriculture and drinking supplies during dry periods. The project aims to improve water security and is part of an effort to manage impacts.
