RSS affiliate opposes proposed MDR on UPI transactions above ₹2,000
The RSS‑linked Swadeshi Jagran Manch criticised a government plan to impose a merchant discount rate on UPI transactions above ₹2,000. Co‑convener Ashwani Mahajan called the fee ‘unfortunate’ and said it undermines the achievement of the digital payments system. He warned the charge could raise costs for merchants and consumers, slowing adoption, and urged the proposal be withdrawn.
