The central government told the Madras High Court that only the Prime Minister’s Office can issue a sanction to prosecute IAS officers. The court gave the government two months to secure such sanction for officers K.S. Kandasamy and K. Vijaya Karthikeyan, who are accused in a ₹98.25 crore tender irregularities case involving former AIADMK minister S.P. Velumani.
