BIS raises gold hallmarking fee to ₹75 from ₹45 ahead of festive season
The Bureau of Indian Standards has increased the fee for gold hallmarking from ₹45 to ₹75 per gram, citing the upcoming festive season. The All India Gem and Jewellery Domestic Council criticised the hike, asking the government and BIS to reconsider and keep the current rate in the industry until a broader stakeholder consultation is completed before the holiday rush.
