IPS, IMA keralam units oppose ‘Happiness and Wellness’ tag for mental health centres

India’s leading psychiatric body, the Indian Psychiatric Society, together with the Kerala chapters of the IPS and the Indian Medical Association, have criticised a proposal to rename public mental‑health facilities as “Happiness and Wellness” centres. They say the new label downplays serious disorders and may give patients a misleading impression of the care provided at these essential institutions.
