Mizoram yields two new-to-science frog species, one hiding in plain sight
Researchers in India's northeastern state of Mizoram have identified two frog species previously unknown to science. The amphibians, named Duttaphrynus phawngpui after the region's tallest mountain and Ingerana aizawl after the capital city, were discovered during field surveys. One of the new species had long been confused with a common, widespread frog, but detailed analysis confirmed its distinct status.
