Underwater survey to be done to assess long-term impact of MSC Elsa 3 sinking, Centre informs Kerala HC
The Indian government told the Kerala High Court that an underwater survey will be conducted to evaluate the long‑term effects of the MSC Elsa 3 sinking. The Liberian‑flagged container ship, owned by Mediterranean Shipping Company, went down off Alappuzha in May 2025, reportedly causing extensive damage to coastal and marine environments in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The assessment will inform remediation measures and potential compensation.
