Backward Classes group raises concern over challenges to caste census
The National Backward Classes Dalit Federation, led by president Dundra Kumaraswamy, warned that the forthcoming caste census could encounter data inconsistencies. He said that regional naming conventions, sub‑caste identifiers, local terminology, pronunciation and spelling differences may cause the same social group to be recorded multiple times, complicating accurate enumeration. Such duplication may affect resource allocation and policy planning based on the census.
