India gains wider EU steel access, but carbon levy remains
India has secured a broader entry into the European Union steel market, receiving an extra preferential quota of roughly 694,853 tonnes on top of its current WTO‑allocated 946,616 tonnes. The deal does not remove the EU’s carbon border adjustment mechanism, meaning Indian steel exporters will still face the carbon levy when selling to EU buyers.
