Electricity demand peaks this September, unscheduled power cuts return to Tamil Nadu
Tamil Nadu’s electricity demand hit a record 20,500 megawatts this September, far above the 16,000‑17,000 megawatts recorded at the same time last year. The state faces a shortfall of more than 3,000 megawatts, prompting the Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation to buy around 2,000 megawatts to cover the gap, leading recently to unscheduled power cuts.
