Why is NCPCR investigating Meta, Instagram?
India’s National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has opened an inquiry into Meta Platforms over Instagram’s handling of child‑related content. The commission can invoke its statutory authority under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act and the Child and Adolescent Welfare Act to issue notices, summon officials and demand documents from companies.
