Trade union seeks legislation to regularise outsourced power sector workers
Trade union CITU has demanded new laws to regularise outsourced workers in the power sector, citing government use of contract staff for permanent roles. State general secretary S. Varalakshmi, also honorary president of Karnataka State Electricity Workers’ Federation, claims the government exploits contract and outsourced employees across departments. The union seeks legal safeguards to protect these workers.
