Extra fishy: your tinned mackerel may not be what you think it is
Consumer group Which? has raised concerns that many tins labelled as mackerel actually contain jack mackerel, a different species used as a substitute because of declining wild stocks. The group says the practice misleads shoppers and may breach labeling rules, urging regulators to enforce stricter species identification and transparency in seafood packaging through improved testing and clearer labeling standards.
