Keralam Forest department agrees to diversion of forestland for Sathram airstrip
Kerala’s Forest Department has approved the conversion of forest land to complete the Sathram airstrip, intended to train roughly 1,000 National Cadet Corps Air Wing cadets. Construction began on May 21, 2017, but a July 2022 landslip caused by heavy rains damaged a portion of the project. The diversion aims to resume work and finish the facility.
