Low pressure in Bay of Bengal offers hope as strongest El Niño since 1997 weighs on monsoon in Telangana
A low‑pressure system over the Bay of Bengal is expected to bring rain, providing relief to Telangana, where the monsoon has been hampered by the strongest El Niño event since 1997. The state recorded a 38 % shortfall in August rainfall, and September’s deficit has already reached 79 %, according to senior weather consultant Y.V. Rama Rao.
