BRICS nations should link payment systems, trade in local currencies: Piyush Goyal at BRICS Business Forum
India’s commerce minister Piyush Goyal told the opening of the 2026 BRICS Business Forum that the bloc should integrate payment networks and expand trade in their own currencies. He said deeper cooperation among the six members could generate jobs, increase wealth and boost prosperity, noting that BRICS together account for roughly half of the world’s population and 40 % of global GDP.
