Consent irrelevant in POCSO cases, says Kerala High Court
Kerala’s High Court ruled that consent is not a defence in cases covered by the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, rejecting an accused’s petition to overturn his conviction. The bench clarified that the statute treats any sexual act with a minor as non‑consensual, reinforcing the law’s strict liability approach toward child sexual abuse.
