Drop plan for Tamil Nadu Secretariat at Pattinapakkam, CPI urges State government
The Communist Party of India (CPI) has asked Tamil Nadu’s government to abandon its proposal to build a new secretariat at Pattinapakkam. The plan would displace roughly 1,500 families of fisherfolk residing in the Foreshore Estate and threatens a known Olive Ridley turtle nesting area. CPI officials say the project endangers livelihoods and marine biodiversity.
