₹23,000 crore to keep the taps on: what Visakhapatnam’s data centre boom will cost in water storage

A plan submitted to Andhra Pradesh’s chief minister proposes spending about ₹23,000 crore to secure water for the rapidly expanding data‑centre cluster near Visakhapatnam in the region, to meet future demand. The scheme calls for enlarging the Yeleru reservoir by 10–15 tmc ft and constructing five balancing reservoirs, each holding 5 tmc ft, across roughly 12,500 acres, with supply drawn from the Polavaram Left Main Canal.
