Political leaders, fisherfolk oppose choice of Pattinapakkam as site for Tamil Nadu’s new Secretariat
Political figures and local fisher communities have voiced opposition to the Tamil Nadu government's plan to locate its new Secretariat in Pattinapakkam. PMK leader Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss and AMMK chief T.T.V. Dhinakaran condemned the decision, citing potential displacement of residents and adverse effects on coastal ecosystems. Fisherfolk also expressed concerns about livelihood disruption and economic uncertainty.
