Cabinet approves eight railway multi-tracking projects costing ₹20,804 crore
India's cabinet gave the green light to eight railway multi‑tracking initiatives totaling ₹20,804 crore. The plan covers new third and fourth tracks on the Arakkonam‑Renigunta route (77 km), additional lines on the Whitefield‑Bangarapet corridor (47 km), a double‑track upgrade between Hosur and Omalur (147 km), and several other sections aimed at boosting capacity and reducing congestion across the network.
