177 Velampeta families to get flats where their huts stand; ₹40 crore slum redevelopment begins in Visakhapatnam
Minister P. Narayana inaugurated a ₹40 crore in‑situ slum redevelopment project in Visakhapatnam’s Velampeta area. The scheme will replace 177 families’ huts with new flats built on the same site using shear‑wall construction, slated for completion in nine months. While work proceeds, each household will receive a monthly rent allowance of ₹3,000. Residents say the plan fulfills long‑standing expectations.
