Intensive surveillance after death of over 5,000 chickens in Cuddalore’s poultry farms
Following the loss of more than 5,000 chickens across several poultry farms in Cuddalore district, authorities have launched intensive monitoring. Initial reports came from a farm in Thammanampettai village, Thiyagavalli panchayat, where 200‑250 birds died. Officials have ruled out avian influenza and are investigating other possible causes while maintaining heightened surveillance. The surveillance includes testing samples and restricting bird movement to prevent spread.
